You have asked that your child become a member of the family of God through Baptism in the Catholic Church. We rejoice with you as you prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism for your child. We promise to support you and the godparents you choose as you fulfill your obligation to bring up your child within this community of faith, living as Christ has taught us through word and example – loving God and neighbor.
In order to serve as a Godparent in the Catholic Church he/she must:
*Be a practicing Catholic
*Be at least 18
*Have received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation
*If married, either to each other or to other people, they must be married in the
Catholic Church by a priest or a deacon
* Attend Baptism Classes here or at their own parish
We are not able to make exceptions to these requirements. If the Godparent(s) wish to take the classes at his or her own church then the parents are responsible for submitting a letter or certificate from the church where the Godparents took the classes. This letter/certificate is due at least one week before the Baptism.
Parents may register their child for Baptism in the parish office or at the first class. Please contact Aurora Rodriguez (713) 466-4030 if you have any questions. The Baptism Prep Coordinators will contact you closer to the date of the sessions.
