The St. Matthew's Social Concerns Ministry is committed to helping parishioners understand and act on the Catholic Social Teachings. We do this by providing opportunities for our parishioners to meet the practical, spiritual, and emotional needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are committed to protecting the belief that life is a sacred gift from God and that the dignity of life should always be protected.
Social Services Include: Food pantry
Christmas baskets
Gabriel project
Magnificat house Christmas dinner and gifts
The Food Pantry
The food pantry is open to provide nourishment to the hungry of our community every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 am.m-12:00 p.m. Our Christmas Basket Program, bread distribution, and Channel 13's Share Your Christmas are all programs sponsored by our food pantry. Pantry volunteers are always needed to pick up food, make food baskets, and to keep the pantry neat and tidy. We especially need help at Christmas time with wrapping gifts and assembling baskets.
If you are interested in volunteering or donating to social concerns, please contact the Parish office at (713)466-4030 on Mondays and Wednesdays and ask for Tom Murray.
